Big Brother Mentor Program
Many relationships in our Big Brother program are connected through our Community-based programs. Community-based mentoring
relationships involve one-on-one outings and activities, doing things that the Big Bro and Little Bro have shared they enjoy doing,
such as:
-
Taking a walk in the park
-
Going to museum
-
Going to an event hosted by the local BBBS affiliate
-
Listening to music
-
Hanging out in a neutral setting and enjoying the activities present
Some Big Brothers meet their selected Little Brother on the weekends. Others get together with their Little Brothers on weekday
evenings. Each match is unique and develops a schedule that works for them.

Studies show that children who have role models are more likely to improve in school and in their relationships
with family and friends, and less likely to skip school or use illegal drugs or alcohol. Students who are successful in
school are less likely to drop out, abuse drugs, or commit crimes

School Tutoring / Mentoring
Our School-Based Tutoring and Mentoring program isn’t limited to the classroom. The Big Brothers and their Little Brothers also
explore classroom relationships and problems, homework, tutoring, and read together. You may also discover that out Big Brothers
find it perfectly fine to shoot hoops in the gym or play on the playground. At the end of the day, it's really all about starting a friendship,
providing guidance and inspiring each youth to reach their potential.

Some of the biggest supporters of our School-Based Mentoring program are actually teachers. They see students come
back from their time with their Big filled with confidence, smiling big, ready to learn and eager to succeed

Secondary Education Assistance
Each youth that is identified as a Junior (11th grade) in high school will be paired with one of our Educational Liaisons to review interest
in Colleges and Universities. Youth will receive assistance on filling out and submitting college applications. Youth will be assisted with
applying for eligible grants and scholarships. Each summer 15-20 youth are selected to participate in a State to State college tour.
Raising Boys to Men Program
Our youth enrolled will be allowed to participate in Job Training Seminars and Life Skills courses. Each course has a personal design to
implement the appropriate steps to creating a resume, applying for a job, identifying the best work places that fit you. Life Skills will
instill responsibility, leadership, and positive healthy relationship building.
